My current focus is creating digital products with amazing user experiences (UX) through an intuitive user interface (UI). End goal is a product that functions as good as it looks.
My Career History:
During my 20 year career I have had the privilege of designing solutions for a large variety of projects. I have created consumer-level package designs that needed to visually leap off the shelf, non-profit (member-oriented) omni-channel marketing efforts that drove record-breaking annual meeting attendance, a complete overhaul of a confused mobile app UI, eDetailers for large pharmaceutical companies, complex re-brand of a leading finance company, and more.
I have worked with companies and organizations large and small. From the American Heart Association (AHA) to Tachikara, a sports brand found in stores throughout the United States, to Big Pharma, including Bayer, Abilify and Hills. The clients I have worked with vary as much in size as they do industry.
I strive to out-perform client and employer expectations every time with a focus on being a team player. In addition, I have led teams of designers and am comfortable in leadership roles. I have a cool-under-pressure style and work hard to gain early buy-in on project parameters from clients. But, whether as part of a team or working on my own, I am happy doing both. I am passionate about great design, and nothing is better than doing what I love every day.
My Career Future:
I am looking for the next role where I can have a direct impact on the outcome. Whether that is utilizing my strong understanding of data analytics and how to apply that information to the overall navigation hierarchy, or directly designing the art and overall look of the product and brand. I will be successful in either follower or leadership roles. As a department leader I have been mostly a “working manager.” This means that I was the designer on a product while my team of designers each had their own. I do my best to mentor and keep each team member’s career objectives in mind. And, I always have an open door policy. In addition, I teach UX design at a major university.
